Fill in the Blank Friday

Thanks to everyone for the great comments and support on yesterday's post.  Blogging is a funny thing; I worried that yesterday's post was a bit long and actually thought to myself, "No one's going to read all the way through this" but you guys did and I really appreciate it.

As for today, it's Friday, which mean the end (sorta, since I have to work tomorrow) to another week.  It also means it's time for Fill in the Blank Friday.

1. If my house was on fire and I could only grab three things I would grab my son, one of my dogs (the one less likely to run out of the house on her own), and maybe my laptop?  (I'd be able to sling my purse over my shoulder, too, right?)

2. A smell I really like is lemon Clorox or Lysol wipes.  I know they're not great to use (chemicals, blah blah) but I just love the way they smell.

3. Something you might not know about me is that I was knocked out of the fifth grade spelling bee for the word "wharf".  I didn't realize there was an "h" in it and to this day, every time I see or hear the word wharf, I remember the moment I had to leave the spelling bee stage.

4. Some of my favorite websites to putter about on are Pioneer Woman (duh, especially her cooking page), Huffington Post, Daily Beast, and Netflix. I don't actually do much puttering about online.  All the blogs I read are organized in my Google Reader and I don't putter there so much as just straight-out read.

5. This weekend I will work from 11am to 2pm on Saturday.  We were supposed to go to a friend's for dinner Saturday night, but I think that's not happening now so I'm currently wondering what we might do with our Saturday night.  Sunday the hubby is working from noon to 8pm so it'll be me and the little man at home.  Hopefully I get homework done.

6. Nothing makes me happier than this face:

7. A bad habit I have is not wanting to get out of a funk.  I took an "Are you an optimist or pessimist" survey at work the other day and it told me I was "moderately hopeless" (just a step above "extremely hopeless, which is the lowest score).  For someone who self-identifies with Eeyore, this wasn't a surprise, but I've realized it's easier to be in a funk when only one or two things are going wrong.  When, like now, I can easily list half a dozen things stressing me out in a significant way, sitting in a funk feels like it can actually lead to drowning in the funk, which I don't want to do.

So, yeah, that was a depressing fill-in to end with.  I'm going to add one more just to bring this up:

A good habit I have is that I keep planning for the future.  Even in my lowest funks, I keep thinking and thinking of things I can do, both short term and long term, to pick life up, to make things better.  It can be as small as making a home-cooked meal with fresh ingredients or as big as planning a vacation.  I think it's really important to have things to look forward to, both in the week you're in and in the months and year ahead.
