31. Buy a bigger bed.

Zzzzz... Oh, hey there.  Oh, I have to get out of bed to blog because my laptop is in the other room?  Darn.

Yes, we have a new bed!  We have gone from a full size Serta purchased in 2002 to a queen size Tempur-Pedic... oh, and it is all so good.  I would take and post a picture, but the hubby is still sleeping.

We really needed a new bed because the old one had gotten a bit beaten up since it's been moved six times (I think - I lose track).  Plus, a full-size was a bit small for the two of us to share and, in the beginning, I really had a hard time sleeping due to the lack of space.  In the past few months, I actually adjusted to it quite well, but I still woke up when the hubby got into bed, or rolled over, or shifted, or just breathed, really.  And I was always waking up with a sore back.  Every day, I would have to do a series of bends and stretches just to crack my back and stretch it out after I got up because it was sore and stiff.  No thanks.

But the past two nights? I've fallen asleep around midnight and woken up at 7 or 8am with no waking up in-between.  That is UNHEARD OF for me.  Amazing!  And then, to boot, I've drifted off for another hour or so after that!  Insane!  I haven't done that since I had some kind of cold one weekend last year... or since I was a teenager.

We chose the Rhapsody model, which doesn't require any flipping and has this dual core thing that's extra good at helping the mattress not heat up as you lay on it (extra important since the hubby is basically his own space heater).  The store was having a sale, so we also got two free Tempur-pedic pillows, a free sheet set (600 thread count, oooh, satiny), a free mattress protector, free delivery, and free removal of the old mattress and boxspring.

Much like quality, classic pieces of clothing are referred to as investment pieces, that's what this is.  I'm too light of a sleeper for a spring mattress and I don't want to buy a new mattress every seven or eight years, either.  We'll probably move in another four or five years and after that, stay put for a while.  So I want something that we'll want to have for a long time and I'm really hoping this is it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I hear my mattress calling me.

Ohh. I'm jealous. I've had this full sized bed since 2000. I'm right there with you, full sized beds are just not big enough for 2 grown adults. Great goal.
